The 2nd Annual Kruckemeyer & Cohn Diamond Dash2011.10.05. // Events, Places, Things, Uncategorized

The 2nd Annual Kruckemeyer & Cohn Diamond Dash is a one-day, real world treasure hunt through downtown Evansville, for a chance to win a $12,000 Hearts on Fire diamond ring!

Hundreds of teams began their hunt for the diamond at Casino Aztar on Sunday, October 2nd around 11am.

Players would get text messages sending them from one location to the next. Then they were asked questions and given clues. After they answered each question they received a point. The team that received the most points won.

Working the booth with Marianne Snograss, owner of Snograss Floral, was so much fun! As teams came to their table, they were asked to guess what types of flowers were in a beautiful bouquet.  There was an orange lily, a yellow rose, and a fuchsia stock, which was the tough one.

Of course the most enjoyment came from talking to all of the people in the race. There were couples that were planning on getting engaged with the ring, couples that had been married for ten plus years trying to win the ring as an anniversary gift, teams of sisters, brothers, mothers and daughters and friends all looking to score the ring for various reasons. The most amazing story I heard was from two sisters that were trying to win the ring for their mom to celebrate her 10 year anniversary of being cancer free. Amazing!

Congratulations to this years winners Scott & Megan! Although he had recently proposed, Scott said that “he loves her so much he wanted to do it again.” This time with a $12,000 Hearts on Fire diamond.

Make sure you sign up next year as Kruckemeyer & Cohn attempt to get the Diamond Dash into the Guinness Book of World Records!

Unique Guestbook Ideas2011.09.28. // Things, Tips, Trends, Uncategorized

Get creative and incorporate an item you both love to use as your guestbook.  If you both love music -use a guitar as your guest book or an old record and sign it with a silver sharpie.  Sports fans – Let your guests sign a football, basketball or soccer ball. Do you enjoy camping together – let your family and friends sign a new backpack that you can take with you on your next trip.  Here are a few more suggestions for non-traditional guestbooks that are sure to make your guests smile and will make an excellent display in your new home together.

 Wishing Rocks

Use these rocks in your landscaping, a potted plant or as decoration in a tray or bowl in your new home.

Rocks used as guest book

Traditional Wedding Tree – Finger Print Guest Registry Print

This beautiful print is designed to replace traditional book wedding registries. Your guests will bring this tree to life by adding their thumbprint and autograph. This print is the perfect way to remember all of the people who help you to celebrate your big day.

Quilt Wedding Guestbook with Custom Fabric Squares
As seen in Brides Magazine, August 2011! A unique guestbook idea where guests sign a square of fabric.  The squares can be sewn together to create a quilt, wall hanging, table cloth or other custom finished piece with squares signed by all of your guests.

Wedding Guestbook Poster
Great for the DIY Bride, create this template in a word program and send to your local printer to enlarge. Each guests signs on a blank line, adding a touch of uniformity for those who want to display their signatures. This design has a vintage feel.

Guestbook Platter
Using a permanent black pen that is designed to write on porcelain finishes, guests can sign their names and thoughts.

Afterwards you can display it on your wall.

As always, I hope these have inspired you to come up with your own creative ideas to use something you love as your guest book.

Amber & Andy Hemingway2011.08.23. // Places, Weddings

Amber happens to be my younger sister, by six years,  and I must say I have been waiting patiently for this moment for years. I’ll never forget our first conversations about Andy.  You could hear it in her voice that she was happier than she had ever been, was falling in love and after meeting him I could certainly see why.  Andy is kind, intelligent and adores her as much as she adores him. They make a great team and are supportive of each other goals and dreams. Sniff, Sniff….I’ll move on.

Their search for a centralized wedding location  began a year ago.  Andy is origonally from Halifax,  England and has traveled extensively throughout the US and  abroad.  Since they met 3 1/2 years ago she has joined him on quite a few of these adventures as well.  After weighing the pros and cons of several lovely locations like England, France, Australia, etc. they agreed on the beautiful San Ysidro Ranch in Santa Barbara California.  It Was Perfect!  Cheers to my sister and new brother-in-law!

Andrea & Nick2011.07.10. // Weddings

Andrea and Nick are a rare bred. They were both focused, pumped, and had everything for their wedding and reception planned down to the last second.  Their ceremony was fun, entertaining and encompassed both of their outgoing personalities. They used Queen’s “Your My Best Friend” as their recessional and came back in the sanctuary to have a picture taken of the wedding party with all the guests. Married on June 4th at Methodist Temple...This wedding was fun!

Bridal Walk

Methodist Temple is located at 2109 Lincoln Ave and is a fantastic location to host a wedding. The beauty of the stained glass windows, the arts & crafts architecture and the magnificent sounds of the old organ they have built right into the building. There is a lush garden with a water feature and a warm and cozy parlor, both which are perfect for pictures. They have a center isle, which is rare these days and a lovely bridal walk, that gives you seclusion from your future husband.  I am currently filling in as their wedding coordinator and have had the opportunity to assist several couples, with very different styles, have beautiful weddings.  Being located in the center of town, Methodist Temple would be a great location for any wedding. Call 812-476-1306 for details.

Matt Vickers, owner of Vickers Photo, has become a good friend of mine over the past few months. He has taken on the task of helping me with my website, my new logo and my branding. We have been sharing creative marketing ideas, tossing inspiring thoughts between one another and I have recently had a chance to see Matt at work and view quite a few of his albums. He simply amazes me with his talent. He treats every shoot with professionalism and a great sense of humor. He not only focuses on taking beautiful photographs, but truly captures the memories of your day. When building your albums, he tells the story of your special day from beginning to end.

If you are in need of a professional photographer for an engagement session and your wedding Matt would be the perfect guy to call. Contact Matt through his website www.vickersphoto.com or call him at 812-568-6919.
I had to add some examples of his work:

Maison 2002011.06.23. // Places, Tips

Maison 200 is a new Bed & Breakfast and so much more.  This fabulous estate was built in 1840 and has been completely remodeled.   Situated in historic Newburgh and surrounded by a wall of stone, it has all the charm and details of a historic home, with an updated twist. The decor is a fabulous mix of antiques, flea market finds, and brand new contemporary pieces that give it a very comfortable vibe.  Did I mention it overlooks the river?

The perfect place for an outdoor wedding, as the exterior is full of character as well.  Maison 200 has three bricked patios, a fire pit, water features, pagoda and plenty of space. The owner, Misti Fraser, also has 20 antique pews at your disposal to accommodate up to 200 guests.

Maison 200 boasts 4 bedrooms, 3 baths, a gourmet kitchen, dining area and several rooms to lounge in and socialize.  The estate can be rented for one night or the entire weekend. Just the right solution for out of town guests, a beautiful place for your bridal party to get all dolled up, our as a honeymoon suite.  It would also work well for an engagement party, rehearsal dinner or just a weekend away!

Misti has spent five years restoring this mansion and you can certainly feel the heart and soul she poured into every inch of the Bed & Breakfast. This venue is a “must see” in my opinion and I can not wait to help couples plan their events there. Contact Misti Fraser at 812-573-9011 or contact me and I will get you a viewing.

Check out more pictures at Vickers Photo. Thanks Matt!
